Sinophysis canaliculata
Diagnosis
Quod et al, 1999 : Non photosynthetic organism, cell circular to subcircular in lateral view ; 45- 57 micrometers long ; 37-51 micrometers wide. Cell laterraly compressed. Small epitheca ; large hypotheca. Right hypothecal plate convex with 56-635 areolate. Left hypothecal palte concave with 868-929 areolae and a narrow thecal cut situated in the middle of the plate and parallel to the anteroposteror axis. Sulcus as long as two thirds of the cell length.
Etymology
Adjective (Latin), canaliculate, with a longitudinal channel or groove (Stearn 1973).
Type species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Sinophysis is Sinophysis microcephala D.Nie & C.-C.Wang.
