Diagnosis
Diagnosis_Genus: Apodinium Chatton 1907. Ectoparasite of appendicularians, attached by a peduncle. Sporogenesis occurs during the trophont stage by palisporogenesis.
Diagnosis_Species: Apodinium rhizophorum Chatton 1912. Type host: Oikopleura cophocerca, the parasite is localised on its tail. Individuals, up to 60-110 µm long and 35-60 µm large, are ovoids. The peduncle penetrates inside the tegument, and divided soon after the penetration into two rhizoids.
