Diagnosis

Aplastidic parasite, numerous trichocysts, organized as plasmodium (several per host) during the trophont stage. producing spores typical of Syndinids (V-shaped condensed chromosomes).
No castration of males observed.
Infections often accompanied by microsporidiosis.
