Definition

The dorsal kinety is separate from the right and left ciliary field between which it is situated dorsally. It is the longest kinety, usually extending from the membranellar zone to the base of the stalk. The term was introduced by Choi et al. (1992). Foissner and Wilbert (1979), Foissner and O’Donoghue (1990), and Petz et al. (1995) named it “ventral kinety”, although this ciliary row is on the cell side almost opposite to the
eccentric buccal cavity. Agatha and Riedel-Lorjé (2006)
