Cinachyrella tarentina
Diagnosis
Spherical, attached to substratum by broad base; surface hispid, consistency fleshy; colour - pale yellow; oscules - inconspicuous, small, scattered all over body.
Skeleton - Ectosomal skeletal framework radial, protriaenes and anatriaenes project out of surface considerably; oxeas radiate from center and diverge just beneath surface; microscleres microxeas and sigmaspires abundant.
Megascleres - Protriaenes with stout clads projecsting out of surface, shaft 1.8-2.5 mm long. 0.010-0.012 mm \vide, clads 0.05- 0.10 mm long, maximum width 0.015 mm. Anatriaenes "long and slender, shaft 1.5-3.5 mm long, 0.005-0.007 mm wide, clads sharp, recurved, 0.04 mnl; chord 0.8mm. Oxeas slightly curved, 1.5-3.5 mm long, 0.01-0.04 mm wide.
Microscleres - Microxeas slightly curved and sharply pointed average 0.2 mm long, 0.004 mm wide. Sigmaspires microspined, chord 0.02 mm.
Ecology
Distribution: In India ; Andamans, Ganjam coast, Gulf of Mannar, Palk Bay and Nagapattinam.
