Alertigorgia orientalis
Diagnosis
Colonies arborescent, one species with flattened branches, the other with leaf-like branches. Polyps retractile into edges of the flattened branches or on both sides of the leaf-like branches. Colour greyish, brownish. Surface layer with tuberculated spindles, internal layer with spiny rods. Zooxanthellae present.
A. orientalis has larger polyp sclerites ; larger spindles in the surface layer, and less ovals and cylinders; and shorter rods in the medulla . Moreover, the surface layer has more sclerites with warts fused disk-like
